Late in the afternoon of April 2, 2009 as I was crossing the Quad I saw a few Robins then I saw this bird - a Hermit Thrush by the Fine Arts building. Finally got some pictures that show some color in the tail.

Walking across campus at lunch time
Wednesday May 24, 2006, I caught a glimpse of this bird near Fine Arts and then
I saw it again about 6:30 PM next to the Law School. It's a Hermit Thrush.
The video incorporates both
sightings but the best look was at the Law School. At one point the bird
is watching me and froze which allowed me to get some good video and frames.
(I had shown this bird on my WEB page as a Swainson's Thrush and then as a Wood Thrush but now I'm thinking it is a Hermit Thrush. I had questioned my initial ID because the images here show definite spotting far down the front virtually to the legs. But since the Swainson's Thrush is "common" here I lumped them together. Then I took a second look at a sighting in early September which showed a Wood Thrush with its heavy dark spotting all the way down its front and lumped it in there. But the spotting is different here - not as dark as the Wood Thrush. There is also a pattern the the markings - long lines of dots. The Wood Thrush has more random markings and Swainson's Thrush doesn't seem to have the long lines.)

Coming into work on October 29, 2007 I saw this bird on
the west side berm of the BSB building. It gave me a good opportunity to
tape it. In the video you can see the motion that is reminiscent of the
way a Robin moves.
